Taking Note, one of the blogs placed on The New York Times opinion page expresses how the U. S government shut down was stupid, and also if the shut down was to the end the government would still have many problems other than debt. Teresa Tritch stated in her blog post that the Republicans don't have a problem with the shut down, because they believe that their voters in their district won't vote against them. Teresa believes that the Republicans only have that reassurance because they have been "fixing" the census over the years. She stated that the republican party had, "...numerous attempts to derail the 2010 count by the Bush administration". She claims that if the Census Bureau had more funds the vote counting would be more advance and there would be a stop to the "fixing" of the vote. Therefore; the Republicans would fight for the shut down to be over, because if they didn't they would have to fight to keep their voters. Tritch believes that if the census had more funding it might be a solution to the government shut down, because the Republican party wouldn't put up such a fight. Tritch's blog reached out to the perfect audience of the people who get government funding. She could probably get more people to vote to show that the Republican party don't have control and its also been said that Texas might be turning back into a "Blue" state. So I agree with her statement that we should offer more funding to the Census Bureau so that they can find a more efficient way to calculate the votes, and maybe that would solve some government troubles.
