Blog Stage 4: Political Cartoons

Andy Marlette from Pensacola, Florida created this hilarious picture about what's going on with congress right now. This political cartoon was placed on the opinion page of USA Today, like many others. This picture is a replica of Miley Cyrus's new video for her song, "Wreck it Ball".

Many have much to say about the "new" Miley Cyrus and how she is wreck-less and irresponsible. Sounds familiar. The government right now sucks, and I know that's a crappy way to explain it but many can agree. When looking at both pictures you can obviously see the comparison. Marlette is making a statement that the elephant (republicans) are equivalent to the "irresponsible" Miley.
The wrecking ball is the shutdown threat, which came and crashed the government unexpectedly to many, but we can clearly see who has been riding the shutdown all the way through.

Through out this process the politicians can't be trusted on respected. My personal opinion is many aren't going to take the government serious after the aftermath of this nonsense, or trust many more politicians'. Not even our president.

Even though, the republicans are in the hot seat doesn't justify that the president is still making the calls. People already believe he is lazy, how long will he sit back ad let this go on? I believe there is still some more fighting he can be doing. But, I can also argue that there is not much he can do when there are stubborn people fighting against him and they are also fighting against their own team (republicans).

Blog Stage 3: To Stop the Craziness in Washington, Fund the Census

Taking Note, one of the blogs placed on The New York Times opinion page expresses how the U. S government shut down was stupid, and also if the shut down was to the end the government would still have many problems other than debt. Teresa Tritch stated in her blog post that the Republicans don't have a problem with the shut down, because they believe that their voters in their district won't vote against them. Teresa believes that the Republicans only have that reassurance because they have been "fixing" the census over the years. She stated that the republican party had, "...numerous attempts to derail the 2010 count by the Bush administration". She claims that if the Census Bureau had more funds the vote counting would be more advance and there would be a stop to the "fixing" of the vote. Therefore; the Republicans would fight for the shut down to be over, because if they didn't they would have to fight to keep their voters. Tritch believes that if the census had more funding it might be a solution to the government shut down, because the Republican party wouldn't put up such a fight. Tritch's  blog reached out to the perfect audience of the people who get government funding. She could probably get more people to vote to show that the Republican party don't have control and its also been said that Texas might be turning back into a "Blue" state. So I agree with her statement that we should offer more funding to the Census Bureau so that they can find a more efficient way to calculate the votes, and maybe that would solve some government troubles.
